Sir Andy Murray and wife Kim have recently announced to family and friends the birth of their newborn son and bookies are already backing him as a future Wimbledon champion.

Kim delivered the newborn last week, reportedly giving birth in a London hospital, near the family home, and has been since visited by family and friends alike, congratulating the couple on the birth. Speaking on BBC Scotland, Sir Andy’s mother, Judy, explained “It’s lovely news. It’s lovely to have a little boy to go with the two little girls”. Sir Andy’s grandmother has also reportedly made the trip from Scotland to see the newborn, with husband Roy saying “Its a wee boy [...] My wife is away down, she went down this morning”.

As a result of this latest arrival to his family, Sir Andy has opened up on the impact it may have on his time playing tennis, saying “I’ll definitely be taking some time off as we’ll be pretty busy with three children under the age of four. [...] I’ll try to be around as much as possible in the next year [...] I’m lucky in that I can train close to home, so that lets me do things like the school run whenever I can.”. Despite this, Murray has been chosen as part of the team playing at the Davis Cup Finals in Madrid, which marks another strong step in his comeback after a hip surgery.

After the birth, betting company Coral have already released odds for the newborn following in his father’s footsteps and winning Wimbledon, with the odds being at a staggeringly high 500/1. When discussing the decision, Coral’s David Stevens said “Andy Murray was the toast of British tennis fans when ending the long wait for a home champion at SW19. Plenty will be hoping the family’s new arrival can go on to emulate his dad in the future.”
