Nine Ways to Celebrate Mother’s Day in Lockdown
by Your Baby ClubLast year’s Mother’s Day was the day before the first UK lockdown started. I can’t believe it!
This Sunday is Mother’s Day 2021 and we’re in Lockdown Three. I’ve been thinking up some alternative ways to celebrate Mother’s Day because it’s still possible to spoil our mums and be spoiled by our little ones!
Alternative Ways to Celebrate a Lockdown Mother’s Day:
Post-it Notes
All you need is a pen and a pack of post-it notes. Write whatever comes to mind: memories, reasons you love them, things you are grateful for, things you appreciate. Leave them in places along their daily routine, on the bathroom mirror, on the toilet roll, in the wardrobe… You can even leave some with the breakfast you make them! Give Mum as many reasons as you can think of to smile.
Afternoon Tea
Create an afternoon tea, with all your Mum’s favourite goodies, which you can drop off on your mum’s doorstep on Sunday. Alternatively, support a local business, lots of cafés offer a delivery afternoon tea service!
Coupons
You could make coupons or vouchers for the things you miss doing together during lockdown and can do again once normality has returned. Whether it’s coffee at a favourite cafe, dinner at a favourite restaurant, a massage at the local spa, a trip away… give her something to look forward to!
Family Zoom Call
If you can’t see your Mum this year, then get all the family together and have a Zoom call to catch up and celebrate the occasion. Use the opportunity to plan all the things you want to do when you can get together again.
Socially Distanced Walk
Arrange to meet your mum for a local walk. Perhaps walk to a favourite location such as a beach or a field, or even an area which holds memories. Take a picnic or some gin in a tin! Make sure to follow Government lockdown guidelines and stay safe at all times.
Spa Day
Give your mum the ultimate treat and arrange a spa day at home. Create a little hamper with all your mum's favourite items such as face masks, a bath bomb, fluffy socks and chocolates. You could also leave it on the doorstep as a surprise.
Breakfast in Bed
Let your mum have that well-deserved lie-in and bring her breakfast in bed! Prepare her favourite breakfast or something that she wouldn’t normally have time to make and take it upstairs so they can continue to stay cosy and have a relaxing morning.
Flowers
Obvious, but most people love receiving flowers. Arrange a florist delivery or pick-up Mum’s favourite combination of flowers and colours from the supermarket. If you want something that will last a little longer than flowers, consider a house plant or something for the garden.
Make a Photo Album
A thoughtful gift for any mum is to create a photo album or scrapbook, especially if you haven’t seen them recently due to Covid restrictions and reminds everyone of happy memories.
Whatever you do decide to do on Mother’s Day 2021, have a lovely day!
