Early Teething Baby

Having a baby isn’t always easy, it can take a while to get in the swing of things but it is definitely one of the best things in the world. Routines need to be figured out, sleep patterns need adjusting, feedings times can take a while to figure out and you need to get used to having a baby with you now. Then at some point, most likely in the first 6 months your baby starts teething and oh my this can be a painful journey. I really had no idea what to expect.

My little girl, unfortunately, started teething when she was just two months old, she was so tiny and she had no idea what was going on, she was just in pain. I was so surprised when she first started to teethe because she was just so young. I think one of the worst things about her teething so young was the fact that we were just getting used to having a baby and figuring things out, she was starting to show some of her personality and wasn’t just a newborn who slept all the time and then the pain with her gums just meant that everything changed. At times she wouldn’t want to eat because she just felt in pain, at times she didn’t want to play, she just wanted cuddles and attention from mummy and daddy.

When my little girl started teething so young she hadn’t really learnt how to hold things in her hands and her mouth was still unbelievably tiny so tethers weren’t much help at all, she was also too young to have Calpol and most teething gels so we were quite low on options on how to help her.

To help our baby girl deal with her teething we just had to keep distracting her as much as possible and to hold tethers in her mouth so she could chew on them. As she got a bit older there was some teething gels and medicine that she was allowed which helped her when she really needed it. Every so often she gets a few weeks break where she doesn’t teethe and it’s so nice to let her be able to play and enjoy herself when she’s not in pain. It’s so hard to see your baby in pain but teething is just something that has to happen and hopefully it doesn’t last too long. After a while, you’ll be able to notice when the teething is bad due to baby always wanting to chomp in things and their cheeks go all red and there are so many different teething gels, powders and granules you just have to find what’s right for your baby and works well.

My little one is almost 5 months now and she has her two bottom teeth almost through, which was a relief to see, a top one growing and two side ones growing. The sides are where she actually started teething first. She is doing so well with the teething pain but I can’t wait until these ones have come through.
